The expansion project of Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the important livelihood projects in Thailand. The new terminal has a total construction area of 216,000 square meters, which will increase the passenger capacity from 45 million to 60 million per year, helping to ease the pressure of the previous terminals, as well as the development of tourism in Thailand.

Started in August 2018, CSCEC comprehensively promoted the project construction with high standards and high quality. In January 2019, the main structure of the project was capped 65 days ahead of schedule. The Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the major aviation hubs in Southeast Asia, which is very important to the economic and social development of Bangkok and the whole Thailand.

During the construction, a number of scientific and technological innovations were applied to provide technical support for the smooth progress of the project, among which BIM technology application reached LOD500 level; the combination of P6 project management software and BIM model realized 4D control of schedule; and the application of three-dimensional laser scanning technology recreates the real scene of the original structure of Hall D which ensured that the reconstruction project could be continued without stopping flights of the airport.

The project has won the Gold Award for Occupational Safety and Health Management from the Ministry of Labor in Thailand, the Gold Award for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Management from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization) of Thailand, the Silver Award of “Zero Accidents” from the Ministry of Labor of Thailand, and the “International Safety Award” of British Safety Council.

During the construction, CSCEC actively promoted the development of related industries, and more than 15,000 jobs were created. High-end talents management personnel such as the general coordinator, the senior architect and P6 program manager have all been employed from Thailand. In addition, the materials needed for the project, including concrete, steel bars, steel structures and decoration materials, are purchased locally in Thailand, which injects vitality into the local economic development.
