The Iconic tower is the core of Egypt's CBD project in New Administrative Capital, covering a land area of 65,000 square meters with a building area of 262,000 square meters. It consists of 2 underground floors and 78 above ground floors, with a building height of 385.8 meters. Its primary functions include commercial, office, residential, hotel, and observation facilities.
The tower's main structure features a design of "outer steel frame + reinforced concrete core tube." The steel outer frame consists of 16 concrete-filled steel tube columns. The steel beams are arranged radially in plan, with one end connected to the core tube and the other end connected to outer frame columns and ring beams. The project consumed 20,000 tons of steel in total, with the heaviest single steel structure component weighing 28.5 tons.
CSCEC completed all steel structure work using advanced techniques, including steel column ultrasonic inspection, steel column lifting and installation, façade bracing installation, ultra-thick steel plate welding, and Innovative tree columns construction technology. In 2024, the Iconic Tower won the "China Steel Structure Gold Award."
CSCEC developed and applied a new climbing formwork system integrated with a jacking concrete placing boom technology—introducing the HGY18 Ⅱ mobile concrete placing boom—pioneering super high-rise construction in desert regions. With its assistance, the Iconic Tower's core tube and steel structure construction achieved remarkable speeds of "4 days per floor" and "3 days per floor" respectively, setting new construction records in Egypt.
