A Pakistani media delegation recently visited the Beijing Southeast Expressway Smart Logistics Port constructed by CSCEC.
Focusing on cold chain logistics, the project is set to become a comprehensive logistics hub integrating various storage facilities — from dry and ambient warehouses to cold, variable-temperature, and ultra-low-temperature storage — with a temperature control precision of ±0.5°C. The hub will play a vital role in strengthening Beijing's urban cold chain transport network.
The delegation observed operations ranging from conventional cold chain logistics to specialized temperature zones, gaining insights into key warehousing technologies and cold storage procedures. Of particular interest was the transcritical CO₂ refrigeration system, which uses carbon dioxide instead of traditional Freon refrigerants, significantly reducing ozone depletion risks. The rooftop solar panels further impressed the media delegation with the project's green, energy-saving, and low-carbon features. During a special hands-on experience, journalists entered the –50°C ultra-low-temperature chamber to understand its environment and protective measures. Hum NewsTV's Editor-in-Chief Syed Arfeen Mehdi said that it is hoped that one day products from Pakistan will be stored in these facilities.
