Chinese and Sri Lankan employees celebrate Sinhalese New Year
Under the gleam of a one-meter-tall oil lamp stand, the fragrance of lotus blossoms mingles with the aroma of coconut milk in clay pots. Lush betel leaves express aspirations for a good life. April 13th marks Sri Lanka's Sinhalese New Year, and the CSCECers thoughtfully organized an celebration. Employees from China and Sri Lanka came together to celebrate the New Year and China-Sri Lanka friendship.
During the event, Sri Lankan colleagues presented each Chinese colleague with a betel leaf. Subsequently, representatives from both Chinese and Sri Lankan teams took turns to light traditional Sri Lankan oil lamps.
After these symbolic moments rich in New Year blessings and auspicious meaning, the Sri Lankan colleagues gave a comprehensive introduction that highlighted the similarities and differences between Chinese and Sri Lankan traditional New Year celebrations, and shared stories of China-Sri Lanka friendship, which has created a new bridge for cultural exchange and left a lasting impression on all participants.
Exciting activities like a knowledge quiz not only deepened the participants' insights into Sri Lankan culture but also fostered a greater sense of appreciation among the employees for CSCEC. The lively atmosphere was further boosted by rounds of applause and enthusiastic reactions, making the event even more engaging.
