Recently, the Kikori Heritage Hotel in Papua New Guinea (PNG) officially opened. PNG Prime Minister James Marape cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, which was also attended by a CSCEC project team.

Marape toured the hotel's guest rooms, public areas and support facilities, and learned about the project's modular construction technology and plans for its operation.

The hotel is located in Kikori District of Gulf Province. It has a total floor area of about 3,275 square meters and was built using 84 modules. The complex includes 52 guest rooms, along with a reception area, gym, meeting room, restaurant and other facilities, and is equipped with a photovoltaic power system.

The project uses modular construction technology. Workers in factories in China completed 95 percent of the structural work, electrical and mechanical installation, interior finishing and furniture installation for each module. After passing quality inspections, the modules were shipped directly from China to PNG, where they were assembled into a modern, fully operational hotel.

Compared with traditional construction methods, this approach significantly reduces on-site wet work, simplifies the construction process, and lessens the impact of factors such as weather and logistics. It offers a new solution for construction projects in PNG's remote areas.

The successful opening of the Kikori Heritage Hotel is another example of how CSCEC is using industrialized and green construction to support development in PNG.
