How can we drive the leapfrog development of a city in urban renewal?
From the rise of seaports to West Africa's largest tourism hub, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire's largest metropolis and economic capital, showcases a unique blend of distinctive architectural layouts, bustling streets, and picturesque landscapes.
In Abidjan, many hopeful eyes are set on the fourth bridge project, all looking toward the city's future. Among them are locals like Monica, a vegetable farmer, Liu Shaoqiu, an engineer from the Republic of Congo, and May, a project translator from Togo. Let's follow their perspectives to step into Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
A bridge spans the bay, turning an abyss into a thoroughfare. The project, a major urban road project, is a crucial component in the city's transportation. With a total length of 7.5 kilometers, it is expected to accommodate an estimated 70,000 daily vehicles once completed. This can significantly enhance the environment, transportation, and economy in the surrounding regions.
The project has provided residents with connectivity. Monica, who lives near the bridge, used to spend a day transporting fruits and vegetables across the BANCO Bay. With the bridge's completion, the journey to the other side now takes only 15 minutes. The shortened commute time also allows her to enjoy more precious moments with her family.
The bridge has opened up avenues for technology. Liu Shaoqiu, who dedicated himself to bridge and road construction in his hometown from an early age, joined the project after graduating with a degree in road and bridge engineering from Chang'an University in China. He believes in the Chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." He aspires to build a truly convenient bridge for his hometown once he masters advanced construction techniques.
Dreams are intertwined with the project. May, a project translator from Togo, had a profound fascination with Chinese history and ancient architecture, which eventually led her to a connection with CSCEC through recruitment. She works with bridge-related translation materials daily, watching the gateway to her dreams set sail on the BANCO Bay. She also anticipates getting closer to her longing dream to study in China.
In Côte d'Ivoire, CSCEC has constructed new urban arteries through the fourth bridge project, enabling the city to embrace fresh development opportunities. In Côte d'Ivoire, these new urban arteries lead to infinite possibilities for the city's future. Connectivity, cooperation and exchanges bridge dreams for many more people. In Côte d'Ivoire, every citizen's dreams and aspirations are realized, and the urban development paves the way for a more freely enjoyed happy living environment.
As the city extends, it breathes vitality into life. We build connectivity through expanding the happy living environment .
