Recently, CSCEC officially initiated the steel structure erection for the main terminal of the Nasiriyah International Airport in Iraq. All major structures in the project have entered the upper structure construction phase. Progress is orderly in the construction of four road sections and the laying of apron pavement.
The project is located in Nasiriyah, a city in southwestern Iraq, and encompasses the establishment of a 4E-class international airport. This project involves the construction of significant structures, such as a main terminal, a VIP terminal, a hotel, and an air traffic control building, covering an area of roughly 50,000 square meters. Furthermore, the aviation side of the project encompasses the development of the runway, apron, navigation systems, and navigational lighting.
The main terminal building covers an area of around 20,000 square meters, making it the largest building. The spatial design of the terminal draws inspiration from the date palm tree, resulting in a shaded and airy canopy-like space. Functions such as check-in, security check, commercial areas, and waiting spaces are designed to resemble a "city within a forest".
