Meilan International Airport, known as “China’s first ecological garden airport”, is located in Haikou, a city famed for its clear sky, azure blue sea, whirling coconut trees and stunning scenery. The airport project is divided into two phases, both of which were constructed by CSCEC.

The terminal building’s roof adopts a streamlined design and the interior is full of sunlight and plants, creating a pleasant and inviting garden space. The overall design and greening of the building are rich in tropical style and integrate the essence of Chinese classical gardens, allowing visitors to appreciate the local customs and culture of Haikou.

After the second-phase expansion, Meilan International Airport will handle an annual passenger throughput of 35 million and an annual cargo and mail throughput of 400,000 tonnes.
