On September 27, with the completion of the last unit of the Capital Indoor Stadium sports park—the Integrated Training Stadium, the construction and renovation project of the Capital Indoor Stadium sports park built by CSCEC was completed.

The construction and renovation project of the Capital Indoor Stadium sports park, with a total area of 140,000 square meters, is divided into 5 separate projects including the Capital Indoor Stadium, the Capital Skating Rink, the Integrated Training Stadium, the Athlete Apartment, and the Winter Olympics Service Center.

The Capital Indoor Stadium

The Capital Indoor Stadium will be the venue for short track speed skating and figure skating of the Beijing Olympic Winter Games. The new-built ice rink of more than 1,800 square meters adopts the most advanced a transcritical C02 system to meet the needs of short track speed skating and figure skating event. Besides, it uses China’s largest indoor video display system to build “the most beautiful ice rink” with the latest photoelectric technology and laser projection.

The Capital Skating Center

As an important supporting facility for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the Capital Skating Rink is an oval building with a total area of 40,000 square meters. It adopts the domestically pioneered three-dimensional space shuttle-shaped steel grid frame and is supported by 60 hall-like columns with a roof. Meanwhile, the venue is a national fitness center with competition-level ice rink and later will be an important place for ice and snow sports events as well as mass fitness activities.

The Integrated Training Stadium

The Integrated Training Stadium is the training place for figure skating of the Winter Olympic Games and the daily training and supporting facilities for athletes. With an area of 13,000 square meters, among which the ice rink covers1,830 square meters, the building is the main place for the ice game training of the national team and will continue to serve as a training hall for the national team after the 2022Winter Olympic Games.

The Athlete Apartment 

In response to the national call of “Green Olympics, Frugal Olympics”, the apartment has a total area of 10,000 square meters with one underground floor and eight upper stories. It will be used as the dormitory, medical and rehabilitation rooms for athletes during the Winter Olympics. Afterwards, it also meets the needs of the training for national teams and the accommodation of domestic and foreign athletes.

The Winter Olympics Service Center

As a new-built venue, the Winter Olympics Service Center has a total area of 30,000 square meters and seven upper floors, which offers the management and catering service of individual competition committees, event operation teams and other resident personnels. In addition, the three-story underground space provides parking space during the Winter Olympics, and integrally configures a main power distribution room, a refrigerating machine room, an air-conditioning machine room and a fire pump room.
