Encounter at the Expo, CSCEC and the UAE work together in "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future"

With a high anticipation by the world, Expo 2020 Dubai will officially kick off on October 1, after a year of postponement. As the first Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, Dubai Expo is themed "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." More than 190 countries and regions will participate in the event. It is estimated that 25 million visitors will be attracted to the event.

All along, CSCEC has assumed the quality brand image and corporate social responsibility as the largest international construction contractor in the UAE, contributing to the development of the local cities. For this Expo, CSCEC has constructed and participated in a number of supporting projects and energy support projects to ensure the success of the event.

Design and construction integration project of the China Pavilion “Light of China”

The Chinese pavilion at Dubai Expo is named "Light of China", and its appearance is based on the traditional Chinese red lantern, signifying hope and a bright future. With a total floor area of 6,700 ㎡, the building facade adopts traditional Chinese lattice windows and extracts the cultural elements of the four ancient Chinese inventions to show the profundity and richness of Chinese culture.

Under the theme of "building a community with a shared future for mankind—innovation and opportunities", the China Pavilion focuses on the innovative achievements in the field of Chinese technology and communication, fully expressing the perfect combination of traditional Chinese cultural charm and innovative technological strength, while actively promoting the Belt and Road  Initiative and the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

World Expo roads and transport network upgrade project

The project is a key transportation supporting project for the World Expo. It is close to the Maktoum International Airport in the Southern District. We are responsible to upgrade old roads in the Expo pavilion area, and make supplemental construction for the ancillary municipal pipeline works such as water supply, street lighting, rainwater and natural gas pipelines.

Within 30 months, our project team transformed the original level crossing road, added 16 kilometers of expanded roads, built two large overpasses and two urban underpass tunnels, as well as the supporting municipal projects around to meet the daily passenger flow of about 300,000 people in the park.

Expo 2020 Metro Station of Route 2020

Covering an area of about 30,000 square meters, the project is an important supporting facility for Dubai Expo 2020 with a total steel consumption of about 5,500 tons. In unique design, the Expo station looks like a pair of opening golden wings, symbolizing Dubai's soaring towards a future full of innovation and reform.

The Route 2020 is a 15 km long extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line with 7 stations, terminating at Dubai Expo 2020 Station, which will provide a capacity of 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions for Dubai Expo 2020.

Expo Village project

As a business card of the Dubai Expo, the Dubai Expo Village Residential Project is one of the key projects of the local government. Including 10 towers, 3 podiums and 1,500 apartments, the project has won various awards such as the International Safety Awards from the British Safety Council and a safety award from CSCEC Middle East.

Adhere to the government's green environmental protection building regulations, the project reaches LEED silver standard. In terms of waste recycling, the Expo Village project has formed a effective system, leaving a construction waste utilization and recycling rate of over 75%.

Hassyan Clean Coal Power Station project

It is a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative, consisting of four 600 MW (net output) supercritical units, covering a total area of 1.2 million square meters. At present, Unit 1 has been in smooth commercial operation for nearly one year, and Unit 2 was successfully put into commercial operation on September 5 this year before Expo opening, providing power support for the smooth holding of the Dubai Expo.

After the completion of the project, it will become the first clean coal-fired power station in the Middle East and the first power station in the world to realize full-load dual-fuel power supply. All four units of the plant are put into commercial operation in 2023, it will provide 20% of Dubai's electrical energy after operation.
