Built in 1968, the Beijing Capital Gymnasium is a modern indoor ice rink in China. It has witnessed "ping-pong diplomacy" In 1971 and it has been the competition venuefor volleyball in 2008. Now, this 53-year-old stadium will be the venue for Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympic Games after CSCEC's upgrading.

The upgrading project of the stadium built by CSCEC is the key project of Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The stadium will host short-track speed skating and figure skating, and 14 gold medals will be awarded to the winners of the relevant events here.
The ice-making in the stadium firstly used carbon dioxide environment-friendly refrigerants on a large scale. Compared with the traditional ways, carbon dioxide ice-making technology is safer and energy-saving, with accurate temperature control and zero emission.

After the Game, the stadium will be the first competition-level national fitness gymnasium open to the public, playing an important role in popularizing the ice-snow sports.
