Recently, the Sichuan Hall of Historic Figures, a large cultural venue designed and built by CSCEC, opened in Tianfu New Area, Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
The venue consists of a main hall and a side hall. Together, they serve as a cultural hub for the city, bringing together exhibitions, public education and cultural tourism.
The design follows the theme "Sichuan's mountains and green valleys." Drawing on the region's mountains, rivers and historic pathways, it adopts a "one mountain, two valleys" layout that incorporates Sichuan's natural landscapes and the legacy of its historic figures into the architecture.

To create large, unobstructed exhibition spaces, the project team built long-span steel corridors and beams, including structures with spans exceeding 30 meters. Through integrated simulation analysis and hydraulic lifting, the team kept installation errors within millimeters. These techniques ensured structural safety and improved installation efficiency by nearly 30 percent compared with traditional hoisting methods.

The team also used building information modeling (BIM) to optimize pipeline layouts. A comprehensive 3D model integrating all disciplines helped identify and resolve more than 400 pipeline clashes. This reduced rework, improved space utilization and allowed for future operations and upgrades. For the mass concrete structures, the team developed a crack-control technology covering every stage, from material mixing and pouring to curing, to help ensure the building's long-term durability.

Column-free halls provide flexible spaces for sculptures, artifacts and multimedia displays. In the digital experience hall, the team addressed acoustic requirements and planned pipeline routes in advance to ensure the smooth operation of immersive projections and interactive installations. Visitors can even "talk" with Sichuan's historic figures through digital technology.
The venue also features barrier-free access, nursing rooms and rest areas. Sightline analysis helped optimize viewing angles, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the exhibits comfortably.

A smart management system integrates security, fire protection, equipment maintenance and visitor flow monitoring. It enables centralized equipment control and coordinated emergency responses, supporting efficient venue operations.
