Recently, a delegation of students and instructors from a technical training program for the Gambian housing and urban-rural development sector visited the Nanning Wuxu International Airport's Terminal 3 (Section 2), undertaken by CSCEC, for a site tour and technical exchange.
With a total floor area of 305,000 square meters, Terminal 3 will boost the airport's annual passenger handling capacity to 50 million upon completion.
During the visit, participants observed key construction practices and technologies used in airport steel structure installation, roofing systems, and intelligent building solutions. The project team introduced a smart management platform for metal roofing, significantly improving installation efficiency. A 3D computer simulation technique was also adopted to optimize welding processes and sequencing, ensuring high precision and stability in on-site assembly.
Aiming to create a green, smart, and passenger-centric transportation hub, the project features China's first integrated air-rail transit corridor, built with a 47-meter-long cable-supported suspension bridge, enabling seamless transfers between high-speed rail and air travel. The design harmonizes cultural aesthetics with engineering logic to provide a travel experience enriched with regional ethnic elements.
The visit gave the Gambian participants valuable insights into CSCEC's advanced technologies in airport construction. They spoke highly of the project's modern construction management.
