On August 1, the results of the International Competition for the New Kharkhorum City Concept were announced in Ulaanbaatar. The competition attracted 428 top planning and design teams from 54 countries around the world. A combined team of China Road And Bridge Corporation, China Construction Engineering Design and Research Institute and China Communications Highway Planning And Design Institute came out on top.

The combined team, led by Song Xiaolong, CSCEC's top architect, submitted a plan aimed at creating a new green, cultural, resilient and happy city.
