Nearly three months after the New York City enacted its stay-at-home order, the city recently started to cautiously lift restrictions and entered the first phase of reopening its economy.
Over the past few months, employees of CSCEC subsidiary China Construction America (CCA) from all over the world have stood firm at their post and made steady project progress in an orderly manner in spite of the impact of the pandemic. Meanwhile, CCA has actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility to join the global fight against COVID-19.
CCA donated surgical masks to the Duke University School of Medicine and the New York Presbyterian Hospital, and also teamed up with the China General Chamber of Commerce Foundation to donate a total of 35,000 masks to NYC Health+Hospitals/Harlem and the Jersey City Medical Center. In addition, CCA contributed to the Jersey City COVID-19 Relief Fund to provide food and other necessities for the disadvantaged, to help small businesses get back on their feet and provide free meals and personal protective equipment for community workers.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, there was a serious shortage of pandemic prevention supplies, which was further exacerbated by the shutdown of transportation. CCA employees based in these countries assisted the Chinese Embassy in the Bahamas to donate test kits to the local health authorities as well as to donate masks through channels that were accredited by local governments and embassies in Panama and Argentina.
In order to relieve the pressure on the medical system, CCA volunteered to undertake the construction of temporary hospitals in its operating regions.
While engaging in pandemic prevention and control abroad, CSCEC always prioritized the safety and health of all overseas employees. CSCEC extended warm regards and shared with them first-hand experience in the fight against the pandemic via phone calls and messages to ensure that prevention measures were strictly implemented. The company’s e-commerce platform also provided CCA with practical support and help by sending them face masks, goggles, protective clothing, temperature scanning equipment, and other supplies.
Only with solidarity and collaboration can the international community contain the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the home of mankind. The battle against the pandemic has not yet been won, and CCA will continue to contribute to the fight.
