The Kuala Lumpur Signature Tower, Malaysia's landmark building, contracted to be built by China Construction, is a multi-functional office building integrating finance, business, shopping and office. With a height of 452 meters, it is one of the highest buildings in Malaysia.
The project required a huge amount of work, complex construction structure and high construction technology. Chinese builders rose to the challenge and completed the binding of 3200 tons of baseplate steel in 27 days, and the construction of 2800 tons of tower crown structure in 53 days. They finished one layer of the main structure in 3 days on average, and the construction period was only 31 months.
In order to step up the construction pace and ensure the one-time acceptance of the project at the same time, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation(CSCEC) carried out the 3-D scanning to steel components in advance in China by using the building information model, cloud platform, and 3-D laser scanning, and then utilized the technologies including the virtual reality and 4-D construction simulation to pre-assemble the components on computer, so as to conduct the construction according to the virtual pre-assembly after the components arrived in Malaysia.
The project department combined the hydraulic climbing frame of the self-developed material lifting platform in China with the international mainstream multi-clamping climbing system to achieve key technological breakthroughs such as segmented flow construction of climbing frame, optimizing the mechanical and manual efficiency to the greatest extent, and providing the most powerful guarantee for the construction speed of the core tube structure with one layer per 3 days. In only 20 months, the project department completed the construction of the core tube structure.
"Chinese companies have strong innovation capacity and advanced scientific and technological methods, and it's impressive that the accumulative safe production reaches 20 million man-hours." said Dennis, the security officer of this project in Malaysia.
The Kuala Lumpur Signature Tower project was successfully completed by the end of 2018, which was selected for the 2020 Luban Award for China's Construction Projects.
