Recently, the ecological restoration project for improving the infrastructure environment along the east coast of Dongjiang, Tianjin Province, one of the coastal restoration projects of CSCEC, was officially completed and delivered, and opened to welcome guests. By restoring the ecosystem along the 2 km coastline, the goals of clear water, tidy beach, green coastline and beautiful bay have been achieved.
The total length of the restoration project is about 1.83 kilometers, CSCEC has upgraded a shore area of 112,600 square meters, maintained a mudflat of 63,400 square meters and a greening space of 35,800 square meters. Combined with natural conditions such as coastline soil quality, shape, etc., the project is designed with different functional divisions.
In order to minimize marine environmental pollution and soil pollution, the project team vigorously promotes green environmental protection construction. In the intertidal zone where the water level changes, a small amount of cement and other cementitious materials are used to consolidate soil particles, which improves the connection strength between soil and cement materials, and then increases the strength of soil. The materials are toxic-free and reproducible.
The project team investigated the local ecological conditions in detail, and selected 52 excellent plant varieties that are resistant to water and humidity, salt and alkali, and wind erosion, so as to create a coastal landscape conforming to local characteristics and build a green barrier for the ecosystem behind the shoreline. By strengthening the ability to live in salt water, the survival rate of plants can be guaranteed, and the green ecological landscape and blue shore can be created.
CSCEC practices the new development concept, strengthens ecological protection and restoration, and creates a "blue bay" where man and nature coexist harmoniously.
