The PKM project attaches great importance to cooperation with local enterprises, and all materials and equipment are purchased from the local. It indirectly drives the downstream industries and injects vitality into the local economy. The PKM project has created a large number of jobs for the local people. During the construction, support is given to preferential hiring for Pakistani employees, and 97% of the employees are Pakistanis. The PKM project took the initiative to fulfill its social responsibilities and has built 12 schools, 79.6 kilometers of roads and 20 bridges for villages along the line.

According to the project, 102 km of new roads are built and 185 km of roads are renovated and expanded. The effective construction time only lasts for 6 months for the prolonged rainy season from November to April each year. In order to solve the problems brought by long construction line and short effective construction period, two quarries, two asphalt stations, two aggregate mixing stations and three project camps areset up as the project progresses. At the same time, the staffing is increased, with 242 managers and 7,890 local workers employed during peak hours, eliminating the difficulty brought by the short effective construction period.

The Manado-Bitung Expressway in Indonesia is the first one that starts construction among the six national strategic projects launched in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, and it is also an overseas key project in response to China's Belt and Road Initiative, which has received much attention. The expressway connects North Sulawesi and Manado, a tourist resort, and Bitung port. After opening to traffic, the driving time is shortened from 120 minutes to 30 minutes, which has greatly saved the time between the two cities, relieved the transportation pressure, made it possible for the Bitung Industrial Park to be opened soon, and also provided convenience for the development of local tourism.
